Welcome to TheDataLabs
I started TheDataLabs in 2017 to share what I was learning and using in my own work with Excel, reporting and data analytics.
Over the years, the website has grown into a place where professionals can learn about Business Intelligence, Power BI, Excel, SQL, automation and other practical data tools. My aim is to explain things in a simple and practical way so that people can use what they learn in their day-to-day work.
Who is behind TheDataLabs?
I’m Dilip Kumar Tiwari, the founder and main creator of TheDataLabs.
I currently work as a Manager of Reporting & Insights for a global organization and have more than 15 years of professional experience in reporting, Business Intelligence, analytics and data visualization.
My work involves business reporting, analytics, dashboards, data preparation and automation. Over the years, I have worked extensively with Excel, Power BI, DAX, Power Query, VBA, SQL, DOMO and Power Automate.
I also hold professional certifications in Microsoft Power BI and SQL, along with professional credentials in DOMO. I have also completed an executive program in AI and Data from IIT Roorkee.
Most of my experience has been hands-on. I have worked with data from different systems, prepared and analyzed it, built reports and dashboards, automated repetitive processes, and worked with business teams to turn reporting requirements into practical solutions.
Why I started TheDataLabs
A lot of what I know has come from solving real problems at work.
Whenever I learned something useful, I found myself wanting to document it and explain it to others. That is how TheDataLabs started.
I have always found that a practical example can make a difficult concept much easier to understand. So, rather than focusing only on theory, I try to explain things through examples, real reporting situations and solutions that can be applied at work.
That is the approach I follow when creating content for TheDataLabs.
What you will find on TheDataLabs
The website contains practical resources for people working with data, reporting and automation.

Some resources are available for free, while others are available through the TheDataLabs template store.
My Approach to Learning and Sharing
I don’t believe in learning a tool just for the sake of learning it.
For me, the important question is: Where can this actually help in real work?
Whether it is an Excel formula, a Power BI dashboard, a DAX calculation, an automated process or an AI workflow, I try to connect the learning to a practical problem.
I also continue to learn myself. Technology changes quickly, and there is always something new to understand. I learn, experiment, build and then share the things that I find useful.
TheDataLabs Community
TheDataLabs has grown beyond the website over the years.
Our YouTube channel now has a community of more than 130,000 subscribers. People use the tutorials and resources to learn Excel, Power BI, automation and other data-related skills.
I am grateful to everyone who has watched a tutorial, downloaded a resource, used a template, shared feedback or recommended TheDataLabs to someone else.
What I’m Learning Now
My current areas of interest include AI automation, AI agents, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform and the practical use of AI in business and analytics.
I am particularly interested in how AI can work alongside the skills professionals already have and help them automate tasks, work with data and solve business problems more effectively.
I will continue sharing what I learn and build as I explore these areas.
Thank You
Thank you for visiting TheDataLabs.
I hope you find something here that helps you learn a new skill, solve a problem at work or save some time.
